This was my very first read by the author, and it definitely won't be the last! There are a lot moving parts to this story, and the action starts almost immediately. If you enjoy political thrillers with dystopian vibes and conspiracy theories, this one is worth checking out.
One of my favorite aspects of the book was the compound itself. It reminded me of the communities from the later seasons of "The Walking Dead," where everyone has a purpose and contributes to keeping the group alive. That sense of teamwork made the story feel realistic, while the constant feeling that something much bigger was unfolding kept the tension high.
The pacing is fast, the stakes continue to rise, and there's an underlying sense of urgency when the targeted shootings and attacks begin. Just when you think the group has found safety, you're reminded that the real threat is still out there. Langlee and her crew are running out of time ... and I can't wait to see what happens next.
